Once you have found a building lot to place your new home it is now time to get what is known as a site plan. The site plan contains valuable information such as soil conditions, ground water and ledge testing, a septic system design, driveway length and site grading requirements. Using this information your excavation contractor can create a detailed estimate of cost associated with building on this property. The engineered site plan will give any specific town requirements that should be considered when estimating cost. If your looking at a lot with no plan in place it may be a good idea to do some site testing prior to making any offers. Although the property may look great on the surface you have no idea of knowing what is under the ground. Not knowing could result in thousands of dollars in addtional expenses!
